UK Faces Curry Crisis

The curry dish is under threat because it contains large amounts of additives and trading standards departments are now pushing for the prosecution of restaurants that use too much.

The Guild of Bangladeshi Restaurateurs say the threat of a fine of up to £5,000 plus legal costs may leave restaurateurs with little choice but to leave the the dish off their menus.

A study in July this year found that 46% of tikka masala dishes in London curry houses contained high levels of tartrazine and Sunset Yellow colourings, plus ponceau 4R.
